TGN: Bartholomew

Prayer: Thank You LORD, for showing us qualities in ourselves, through Your men of faith. Show us what we can do now, from learning what they did back then. Your Word is purposeful. In Jesus' name. Amen.

THE TWELVE DISCIPLES/APOSTLES*part 7*

Mark 3 v. 13-19 (NIV)
Emphasis on v. 18

13 Jesus went up on a mountainside and called to him those he wanted, and they came to him. 14 He appointed twelve— designating them apostles— that they might be with him and that he might send them out to preach 15 and to have authority to drive out demons. 16 These are the twelve he appointed: Simon (to whom he gave the name Peter) 17 James son of Zebedee and his brother John (to them he gave the name Boanerges, which means Sons of Thunder); 18 Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew...

------

Jesus' faithful disciples were ordinary men who became extraordinary because of Jesus Christ. Despite their confusion and lack of understanding during His lifetime, they became powerful witnesses to His resurrection. Their lives were transformed by God's power.

BARTHOLOMEW

*A.K.A. Nathaneal

*Occupation: unknown

*Outstanding Characteristics: Honest & straightforward
( I can relate to these qualities)

*Major Events in Bartholomew's Life:
1) Initially rejected Jesus because Jesus was from Nazareth but acknowledged Him as the "Son of God" and "King of Israel" when they met.
*What Jesus said about Bartholomew:
-Jesus called him a "true son of Israel" and "an honest man."

* A Key Lesson from Bartholomew's life: Jesus respects honesty in people-even if they challenge Him because of it.

WHY TRY TO HIDE WHAT YOU FEEL FROM THE GOD WHO KNOWS ALL ANYWAY?

Jesus makes impact in the most ordinary people.

Prayer: Father, my precious heavenly Father, You are the God of newness. I pour out everything I'm going through, feeling, anticipating, fearing, anxious and/or worried about, dreading, confused, mistakes, wrong motives and intentions- I pour it all out to You. And asked for You to refresh me. To teach me how to truly put off the old and put on the new. New hope, focus, purpose, direction, a new charge of energy and excitement- and all that is new that is above everything I could ever ask, think or imagine. Thank You, my Holy Friend. The Almighty is my Friend. Hallelujah! I love You, in the name of Your Son. Amen.
