TGN: The Crucifixion

**********************************************************************
Prayer (from PTWG): Dear Father in Heaven, Thank You for Your loving hand of guidance. This is hard to do from a human standpoint (even a "child's" viewpoint), but thank You for Your chastisement. I know that You love me because You care enough to bring about or allow things to happen to stop me and redirect my priorities and my paths. When things don't turn out like I expect, it's usually because I'm not doing what You want me to do or I'm doing something that would not bring about the best results for me, my loved ones, or those in my circle of influence. I pray that You would continue to direct the work of my hands, the desires of my heart, the steps that I take, and help me to turn in trust when You redirect my paths. For God, I know that all things work together for the good of those who love You (Romans 8:28). I love You. In Jesus' name I come to You. Amen.

DEATH & RESURRECTION OF JESUS, THE KING

Matthew 27

The Crucifixion v. 32-45

As they were going out, they met a man from Cyrene, named Simon, and they forced him to carry the cross. They came to a place called Golgotha (which means The Place of Skulls). There they offered Jesus wine to drink, mixed with gall (a narcotic used to deaden pain); but after tasting it, he refused to drink it. When they had crucified him, they divided up his clothes by casting lots. And sitting down, they kept watch over him there. Above his head they placed the written charge against him: "THIS IS JESUS, THE KING OF THE JEWS." Two robbers were crucified with him, one on his right and one on his left. Those who passed by hurled insults at him, shaking their heads and saying, "You who are going to destroy the temple and build it in three days, save yourself! Come down from the cross, if you are the Son of God!"
In the same way the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the elders mocked him. "He saved others," they said, "but he can't save himself! He's the King of Israel! Let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him. He trusts in God. Let God rescue him now if he wants him, for he said, 'I am the Son of God. ' " In the same way the robbers who were crucified with him also heaped insults on him.
----
Today, let's allow the details of the crucifixion to sink in from the first gospel (Matthew). We'll jump into how this relates to our lives today, tomorrow. Just read, and I encourage you to re-read these verses throughout the day. God just might want to reveal something new to you.

The Voice of God

I will no longer be writing notes in this blog on this book by Cindy Jacobs. The book is deep and needs to be sought out personally when it is time for the individual to read it. Please forgive me for jumping the gun, so to speak. And feel free to hit me up if you ever do consider reading it.

When people talk about you and want to bring you down...

When you call everyone and no one is around...

God is there and His Word answers everything.

TGN: Mock...

Prayer: Mighty God, guard my mouth and direct my advice to others. Let any suggestions and instruction that come from me, be from You only. Not from what I think, not from my emotions, not from my well intentions, not from my limited understanding- but from Your infinite and all-knowing understanding Spirit. Let the words from my mouth send Your children in the right direction, build their confidence in You and not lead them astray. Let the words from my mouth be filled with peace and love. LORD, please let those I turn to in my own life depend on You, as well, when they communicate with me- so that I too can gain wise counsel in the situations of life. In the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

DEATH & RESURRECTION OF JESUS, THE KING

Matthew 27

The Roman Soldiers Mock Jesus v. 22-31

Then the governor's (Pilate) soldiers took Jesus into the Praetorium and gathered the whole company of soldiers around him. They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him, and then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on his head. They put a staff in his right hand and knelt in front of him and mocked him. "Hail, king of the Jews!" they said. They spit on him, and took the staff and struck him on the head again and again. After they had mocked him, they took off the robe and put his own clothes on him. Then they led him away to crucify him.

The actions of these soldiers were horrible. But before we are so quick to judge- how mean are you? What mean names do you have for some of your co-workers? How often do you mock your boss behind their back? How often do you humiliate someone to their face with/without them knowing? Come on, we have all done this. And it is cruel. I have never read of Jesus stooping down to this level of mean. The ones who crucified Him, brought it down to this level. How ugly, when you think about it. Trust me, I know how cruel people can be- but does this justify me acting in the same matter in response to them or others? No! What are our intentions when we go here? This doesn't mean we can't be light, have fun and joke around. But today, the line is often crossed, there is no love behind it and we're accepting it. Isn't LOVE suppose to be our motivation for everything? Aren't we suppose to encourage peace and unity?

People often make fun of Christians for their faith, but believers can take courage from the fact that Jesus Himself was mocked more than most people. Taunting may hurt our feelings, but we should never let it change our faith, nor the way we treat others.

There's no question about it, submit to Jesus- you will be mocked.

THE QUESTION IS: WHO ARE YOU MOCKING?
-this behavior is SO NOT pleasing to God.

TGN: "Barabbas" or Christ?

Prayer: Your Resurrection power LORD is at work in my life and I just want to thank You. You are able to do exceedingly and abundantly anything that comes to Your mind. And I trust that every single thing You have planned for me is good and is good for me. Many, too many are the wonders you have done and all the things you have planned for me. I am blessed because I make You my trust. LORD, I don't look to the proud or those who turn aside to false gods- I wait patiently for You, the Almighty God. Through all the work that You do in me and through me, many have seen and will continue to see and fear; they will put their trust in You, LORD. This is how I desire my life to be used, in service to other's-finding and developing their relationship with You. I will not hide Your righteousness in my heart. I will speak of Your faithfulness and salvation. I do not conceal Your love and Your truth from anyone; and I pray each of Your children do the same; in love, in order and peace. For as we give ourselves fully to Your work, our labor in You will never be in vain. Thank You Jesus. In Your name I pray. Amen. (Psalm 40/1 Corinthians 15,16)

Matthew 27

Pilate Hands Jesus Over to Be Crucified *part 3* v. 15-21

Now it was the governor's (Pilate) custom at the Feast to release a prisoner chosen by the crowd. At that time they had a notorious prisoner, called Barabbas. So when the crowd had gathered, Pilate asked them, "Which one do you want me to release to you: Barabbas, or Jesus who is called Christ?" For he knew it was out of envy that they had handed Jesus over to him.
While Pilate was sitting on the judge's seat, his wife sent him this message: "Don't have anything to do with that innocent man, for I have suffered a great deal today in a dream because of him."
But the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowd to ask for Barabbas and to have Jesus executed.
"Which of the two do you want me to release to you?" asked the governor.
"Barabbas," they answered.

Faced with a clear choice, the people chose Barabbas, a revolutionary and murderer, over the Son of God. Faced with the same choice today, people are still choosing "Barabbas." They would rather have the tangible force of human power than the salvation offered by the Son of God.

WHAT ARE YOU CHOOSING?

TGN: RIGHT IS WHAT'S RIGHT

**********************************************************************
Your Comments:

* "In a "get rich fast", do anything to get over society, these words are really important:
'Show me LORD, how to be perfectly still before you and wait patiently for You in everything I do.  I rebuke all irritation and worry when others succeed without having You personally in their lives.  I will not be discouraged by wicked schemes that are carried out.'
I will not give up on God because he never, ever gives up on me."

*"I Love it! Thank you  for your consistency!
Love, D"

THANK YOU ALL FOR SHARING! XOXO

**********************************************************************
Prayer: LORD, help me!!! I need your help. I cannot be ok with sin. Forgive me for giving into temptation. Forgive me LORD for allowing how this world thinks and acts, come before Your ways. Father God, Your Word, Your Ways, Your commands, Your plan are in no way old, outdated, or irrelevant. Your Word does not adjust itself to the time and our ways. Your Word that applied the day You formed the earth, to Jesus' birth and death- remains the same and as powerful today. Forgive us LORD, for Your people are choosing to follow their own (not Yours) destiny based upon the popular consensus.  It is scary, LORD, how we all pick and choose what parts of God's word we will apply in our lives, and which parts we completely ignore. I can't ask You enough to forgive us and correct us LORD. You've chosen each one of us for a time such as this. By Your mighty Spirit, stir our hearts to get in complete agreement of Your Will for our lives, this earth, the events happening in this world and eternity. Let us never forget, Whom is in control of it all and has the victory. No matter what we see, LORD, You have the victory. I pray Your people live in obedience with the confidence of Your victory in their lives. I pray that we each live in honor of You and not ourselves. I pray that we choose not to conform to the popular ideas and hold fast to the Truth. I pray that the faith of Your children is "proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed (1 Peter 1:7-8/PTWG). In Your Son's powerful name. Amen.

DEATH & RESURRECTION OF JESUS, THE KING

Matthew 27

Pilate Hands Jesus Over to Be Crucified v. 15-26 *part 2*

"What shall I do, then, with Jesus who is called Christ?" Pilate asked.
They all answered, "Crucify him!"
"Why? What crime has he committed?" asked Pilate.
But they shouted louder, "Crucify him!"
When Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but that instead an uproar was starting, he took water and washed his hands in front of the crowd. "I am innocent of this man's blood," he said. "It is your responsibility!"
All the people answered, "Let his blood be on us and on our children!"
Then he released Barabbas to them. But he had Jesus flogged, and handed him over to be crucified.

Pilate was a leader who was suppose to administer justice. He proved to be more concern about his position than about doing what was right. He had several opportunities to make the right decision. His conscience told him Jesus was innocent; Roman law said an innocent man should not be put to death; and his wife had the nightmare of warning. Pilate had no good excuse to condemn Jesus, but he was afraid of the crowd and gave them what they wanted. Although Pilate washed his hands, the guilt remained. He had the power in his position to send Jesus to the cross and he did.

Washing your hands of a tough situation doesn't cancel your guilt. It merely gives you a false sense of peace. Don't make excuses-take responsibility for the decisions you make. And purpose to make decision based on righteousness, honesty, love-God's Word. Making the right decision is not necessarily easy all of the time-BUT it is RIGHT!

WE'RE CALLED TO DO WHAT IS RIGHT ACCORDING TO GOD'S WORD, NOT WHAT IS EASY!

TGN : Purpose in the Details

Prayer: Thank You for Your living Word, LORD. For it instructs me in every good thing and way. I will trust in You, LORD and do good. I will continue to find great pleasure, satisfaction and joy in You, LORD and not my flesh- so that I can receive the desires of my heart and not my flesh, from You, my King. I will commit my ways to You, LORD because in that trust, You will make my righteousness and the justice of my every cause shine. Show me LORD, how to be perfectly still before you and wait patiently for You in everything I do. I rebuke all irritation and worry when others succeed without having You personally in their lives. I will not be discouraged by wicked schemes that are carried out. I will refrain from anger and turn from rage and worry because all these emotion lead only to evil. My hope is in You, LORD. MY EVERY HOPE for EVERY SINGLE THING IN MY LIFE is in You. I'm thankful that You have established an inheritance for me, where I can dwell, enjoy safety and great peace. I will not give up on You LORD. You are faithful and I love You! In Jesus' name. Amen

Pilate Hands Jesus Over to Be Crucified v. 15-26 *part 1*

"What shall I do, then, with Jesus who is called Christ?" Pilate asked.
They all answered, "Crucify him!"

Do you remember I was trying to see if Pilate's wife was mentioned in any way in the Bible? Well no one answered me, but it is now confirmed that Pilate's wife sent a message when he was making his decision concerning Jesus. It is always good to have the Word to confirm the True Story!

So, Pilate recognized the obvious plot against Jesus and wanted to let him go, but Pilate was already under pressure from Rome to keep peace in his territory. The last thing he needed was a rebellion over this quiet and seemingly insignificant man. As I read this chapter, I get the feeling that Pilate could sense there was something "special" in or about Jesus, that he was important; but Pilate couldn't determine why. I say this because what really stands out about Pilate, are his words. "Jesus who is called Christ." He says this twice in this chapter; calling out exactly who Jesus is, without even knowing the power and meaning of his words. God is so strategic and purposeful. I love it.

And get this, the notorious prison Barabbas who the crowd ordered to be released, was guilty of the exact crime for which Jesus was falsely accused of. And his name, Barabbas means "son of the father," which is exactly Jesus' position with God.

Lastly, let's move to the end of these verses, with the answer from the crowd: "Let his blood be on us and on our children!" How ironic that the blood this crowd took responsibility (and on their children as well) for shedding (murdering an innocent man); is the exact blood that covers you, me and our children and makes us righteous before God.

Purpose ladies and gents. God doesn't miss one detail! Hallelujah!

"GOD IS ALL UP IN YOUR BUSINESS TOO, TO THE SMALLEST DETAIL. "

TGN : "Yes, it is as YOU say"

Prayer: LORD, your people need deliverance. The strongholds (whatever you use to protect yourself, that isn't God) from past experiences are dragging Your children into negative places. The strongholds are creating disunity and dissension in relationships. This is NOT of You my LORD. It is time for deliverance- a full season of deliverance. I pray that Your people desired to be delivered. I pray for Your grace to abide in each one of us, so that we gain understanding of one another and not bitterness. Change our actions LORD, help us to break out of those awful habits that keep us bound. I pray that Your people really seek to recognize this enemy in their lives and rid of it. That we all can truly live in the freedom that only You can provide. I pray we trust You, continue to do Your Will, keep the faith, and always pray- because You will be with each of us, always. Jesus we love You and in Your precious name we pray. Amen

Matthew 27

Jesus Stands Trial Before Pilate v. 11-14

Meanwhile Jesus stood before the governor (Pilate), and the governor asked him, "Are you the king of the Jews?"
"Yes, it is as you say," Jesus replied.
When he was accused by the chief priest and the elders, he gave no answer. Then Pilate asked him, "Don't you hear the testimony they are bringing against you?" But Jesus made no reply, not even to a single charge-to the great amazement of the governor.

Jesus' silence fulfilled the word of the prophet, "He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth" (Isaiah 53:7). I love how God connects everything in Scripture, because He is the same God, yesterday, today and forever more.

Remember what Jesus did say, in answering Pilates question: "Are you the king of the Jews?"
"Yes, it is as you say," Jesus replied.

"THAT AT THE NAME OF JESUS EVERY KNEE SHOULD BOW, IN HEAVEN AND ON EARTH AND IN THE EARTH, AND EVERY TONGUE CONFESS THAT JESUS CHRIST IS LORD, TO THE GLORY OF GOD THE FATHER." Philippians 2:10-11

TGN: What's Wrong in Your Eyes?

TGN COMMENTS:

*"God word is truly power and I mean even in the little things. The other night, I called on a friend to assist me and he backed out at the very last minute. Well I had to tackle the issue on my own...initially I thought I was on my own but I wasn't. The word of God says that he will never leave me nor forsake me and that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Well the issue that I had to tackle was something I had never done before and He guided me and gave the physical strength to get the job done. Praise God for his WORD because it does not lie and it truly helped me through my TOUGH time. Oh by the way HE sticks closer than a brother :-)"

*" As always TGN has offered up another good dose of wisdom and encouragement!
I am so grateful for your dedication to spreading the good news of Jesus and reminding us of the importance of staying connected to the word. I've never been as distraught as Judas was in this instance but I think we can all understand the sentiment of wanting to give up a time or two in our lives.
Thank God for Jesus who is the author and finisher of our faith! Like you've explained so eloquently, we need to stay mindful of our individual responsibilities to be/stay encouraged and/or offer encouragement. I will
pay closer attention to myself, loved ones neighbors and friends, heck even folks I don't know and make sure to remind/inform them that there is hope in the Lord. Let's all keep fighting the good fight of faith!! Grace & Peace..."

*"This sho' came at the right time! Thank you for being diligent-God Speed. Peace and Blessings..."

THANK YOU ALL FOR SHARING!!!!!!! --------------------------------------------------------------
Prayer: "He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty" (Psalm 91:1). Nothing can destroy the strong and everlasting shelter I have in the shadow of the all powerful, Almighty God. Thank You for keeping my soul and calming my spirit. I pray for those who are being affected by cancer. Please heal them, protect them, provide their needs, and comfort those who have lost their hair, drastic weight, a body part; comfort those who have lost a family member, a friend... hope. May every need be met through your grace, mercy, and the assistance of your people in their lives where appropriate. In the name of my precious Savior Jesus, amen. (PTWG)

DEATH & RESURRECTION OF JESUS, THE KING

Matthew 27

v. 6-10

The chief priests picked up the coins and said, "It is against the law to put this into the treasury, since it is blood money." So they decided to use the money to buy the potter's field as a burial place for foreigners. That is why it has been called the Field of Blood to this day. Then what was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled: "They took the thirty silver coins, the price set on him by the people of Israel, and they used them to buy the potter's field, as the Lord commanded me" (Zechariah 11:12,13).

These men had no remorse about sentencing an innocent man to death, but blood money- noooo, they couldn't bring that back into the temple. How warped were their values? Their hatred for Jesus had caused them to lose all sense of justice.

Let's take the time today to really consider our values and morals. How do we make decisions? What we truly stand for. What comes before God? What do we place before the needs of others? Do we operate out of justice, love, hatred or biases? The list of questions can go on, but I'll leave that up to the Holy Spirit to bring to the light for each one of us. No matter how much we try, we can't justify wrong. Living outside of God's Word leads to making the wrong decisions.

WRONG IS WRONG! LET'S LIVE RIGHT!

DEATH & RESURRECTION OF JESUS, THE KING

Matthew 27

Judas Hangs Himself v. 3-10 *part 1*

When Judas, who had betrayed him, saw that Jesus was condemned, he was seized with remorse and returned the thirty silver coins to the chief priests and the elders. "I have sinned," he said, "for I have betrayed innocent blood."
"What is that to us?" they replied. "That's your responsibility."
So Judas threw the money into the temple and left. Then he went away and hanged himself.

DO NOT let anyone ever make you feel,- better yet DON'T YOU ever make your mind up to think that you have done something so wrong, so horrible- that you can't be forgiven by Jesus. EVER! I don't care how many times we've made the same mistake-Jesus is waiting for us to come to Him every time to sincerely ask for forgiveness. Not to use this request as a worthless clean slate, just to do it again. Can I get real? Often, we end up making the same mistakes, but in bringing it straight to Jesus every time, we recognize that wrong, and we grow more inclined to change our behavior, ways and habits. We're allowing the Holy Spirit to get all up in it! When we push it under the rug- waiting to get it all out before we come to God, we're handling it in our own way- which is going to be the wrong way each and every time. We're not allowing God into our situation. Give up the control and give it to God ladies and godly men (yep, you're not only gentlemen but men of God- gots to lift up our men in Jesus' name!!!!!)!

It's so important that we show mercy to ourselves and that we show that same mercy to those around us. It's hard I know, depending on what our expectations are for certain individuals, when they keep making the same mistakes, we get frustrated, disappointed- we want to leave them, ignore them- cut them out. I'm not the only one, right!?! Well, the Holy Spirit is telling all of us right now: "to show more compassion to one another." Don't be like these priests who told Judas "What is that to us? That's your responsibility." NO! It was the men of God's responsibility to teach people about God and act as intercessors for them. Rather than helping Judas find forgiveness, they rejected their roles as priest and sent Judas to handle it in his own way.

Don't let another person think they have to handle their struggle on their own. LOVE!!! Re-read over and over 1 Corinthians 13 to see how we are to treat one another. It's so important!!! And trust me, I'm preaching to myself as much as I am sharing this message with you. Someone is out there who thinks that they don't have any one to turn to and they are close to giving up. Be that vessel- man or woman of God in that bruised and battered person's life and let the love of Jesus shine through you. This person needs help, they may know God- but just don't feel Him and they think they are alone. Don't leave them out there alone to be fooled by the enemy, remind them God cares for them. Because if He didn't, He wouldn't have sent you to them just in the right time. Act on it!

One last thing, if you're reading this right now and you don't think your situation can get any better. I'm telling you now, don't choose Judas method and give up. Because it can, and will get better. Truth: many of the plans we set into motion cannot be reversed. I stress to each one of us that it is best to think of the potential consequences before we launch into an action we may later regret. But we do serve a God that can create beauty from our mess. So keep calling out to our amazing God. Keep calling out to Him. Let Him know, that even though you can't see the way- You know He has created the way; He will lead you there and it is good. Trust Him. It's not as hard as we make it my friends. Every day live to please Him and not just ourselves. Press into His Word and prayer- seeking His ways and His voice. Humble yourself, admit your wrongs, seek forgiveness and allow righteousness change your life. Trust, you will be walking on the right path.

If you need to talk to someone, pick up the phone and call them! Don't try to handle this on your own.
If you are someone who receives this call- answer and listen.
If a name has been placed on your heart, call and check up on that friend. They need you and the God in you.

DON'T GIVE UP ON EACH OTHER AND DON'T GIVE UP ON GOD!

Much love to all of you reading this today and everyday!!!! God loves you!!!! I love you!!! Doesn't matter how well I know you. :-)

TGN : Pilate

FAMILY COMMENTS:
From "I'm Honored to Know Christ" 8/14/09

*"The prayer. Nothing is more power then God's word (scripture). NOTHING. With His words, God speaks anything into creation & can change any circumstance. We have access 2 great churches, TV evangelism, gospel music, but @ the end of the day, it is God's Word that holds the most power. Prayer is God's Word repeated back 2 Him. What a huge trick of the great deceiver that we as believers don't study God's Word with more regularity (myself included).
Good TGN. I didn't realize the swearing deal w/pete."

Thank YOU for sharing your blessings with me!

Prayer: LORD, You never said that there will never be trouble in my life when You chose me and I answered Your call. We have to remember that pain and suffering still exist for Your children, but You have promised that You will always watch over me and deliver me from them all. You are attentive to my cry and You protect me LORD. To trust in anything or anyone over you is a vain hope for deliverance because only You save. I wait in hope for You, LORD. You are my help and my shield. I glorify You and exalt Your Holy Name. When I seek You LORD, You answer. I beam with happiness because I look to You for everything. I pray that everyone I come across will taste and see that You are so good, and blessed are we who take refuge in You. Thank You LORD, for showing me all the evil to turn away from, thank You for making me uncomfortable with lies of any kind- lies are not the methods of the God of Truth. And thank You for stirring my spirit to do good and seek to accomplish peace in my life and the lives of others. In Jesus' name. Amen. (Psalm 33-34)

DEATH & RESURRECTION OF JESUS, THE KING

Matthew 27

The Council of Religious Leaders Condemns Jesus v. 1-2

Early in the morning, all the chief priests and the elders of the people came to the decision to put Jesus to death. They bound him, led him away and handed him over to Pilate, the governor.

How many of us saw "Passion of the Christ"? How vividly did that movie portray these pictures to us. No matter what you say about Mel Gibson and some of the creative licenses he took, that movie was a small gift of understanding for me. Things from the Word that I couldn't picture, are now examples I can picture or refer back to on DVD. For further understanding, I will provide background of the history & atmosphere at this time from the Life Study Application Bible:

The religious leaders had to persuade the Roman government to sentence Jesus to death because they did not have the authority to do it themselves. The Romans had taken away the religious leaders' authority to inflict capital punishment. Politically, it looked better for the religious leaders anyway if someone else was responsible for killing Jesus. They wanted the death to appear Roman sponsored so the crowds couldn't blame them. The Jewish leaders had arrested Jesus on theological grounds- blasphemy; but because this charge would be thrown out of Roman court, they had to come up with a political reason for Jesus' death. Their strategy was to show Jesus as a rebel who claimed to be a king and thus a threat to Caesar.

Pilate was the Roman governor for the regions of Samaria and Judea from A.D. 26 to 36. Jerusalem was located in Judea. Pilate took special pleasure in demonstrating his authority over the Jews, which didn't make him very popular; but the religious leaders had no other way to get rid of Jesus than to go to him. Ironically, when Jesus, a Jew came before Pilate for trial, he found him innocent. He could not find a single fault in Jesus, nor could he contrive one. I have yet to read that Pilate's wife was involved in his decision, like it was in the movie. If you've seen this in Scripture, please let me know where to find it. Another reason why I stress knowing the Word. Though I enjoyed "Passion of the Christ"; I also know it can't be taken as the Word. The only thing that is the Word, exactly how God intended is the Bible. So know it!

THE BIBLE IS MEANT TO BE READ OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

FAMILY COMMENTS:

*"This is SO true! Thanks for sending!"

Thank YOU for sharing your blessings with me!
________________________________________________

Prayer: It is fitting for the upright to praise God. Let the redeemed of the LORD, say so! LORD, Your Word is right and it is true. You are faithful in all that You do. You love righteousness and justice and the earth is full of Your unfailing love. Love builds up! Let all the earth fear You Father God, let all the people of the world revere You. For You spoke and it came to be; You commanded, and it stood firm. As the good words You speak over my life are coming to be-everyday. Your loving commands over my life, are standing firm. And I just want to thank You LORD. No matter how I feel or what I see, I know that Your plans stand firm forever and the purposes of Your heart stands through all generations. And amazingly, Your plans and purposes concern me; Your willing child. This is why, I will continue to praise You in advance. This is why, I will continue to serve You in all that I do. This is why Your Name and praises will continuing be in my mouth for all to hear. Because You are so good. And I love You. Many of us think we need to wait for that significant other to understand love. Forgive us for believing that lie, because today I know- there is NO love greater than the love I receive from You. It's amazing!!!! It brings tears to my eyes, in recognizing that my God loves me and is eternally committed to dealing with me, helping me, building me, correcting me, guiding me, interacting with me in EVERY detail of my life with that precious, unfailing, powerful and FORGIVING love. Thank You Jesus. And in Your name We pray always. Amen. (Psalm 33/1 Corinthians 8)

DEATH & RESURRECTION OF JESUS, THE KING

Matthew 26

Peter Disowns Jesus v. 69-75

Now Peter was sitting out in the courtyard, and a servant girl came to him. "You also were with Jesus of Galilee, " she said.
But he denied it before them all. "I don't know what you're talking about," he said.
Then he went out to the gateway, where another girl saw him and said to the people there, "This fellow was with Jesus of Nazareth."
He denied it again, with an oath: "I don't know the man!"
After a little while, those standing there went up to Peter and said, "Surely you are one of them, for your accent gives you away."
Then he began to call down curses on himself and he swore to them, "I don't know the man!"
Immediately a rooster crowed. Then Peter remembered the words Jesus had spoken: "Before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times." And he went outside and wept bitterly.

There were three stages to Peter's denial. First, he acted confused and tried to divert attention from himself by changing the subject. Second, using an oath he denied that he knew Jesus. Third he swore that he did not know Jesus. Using the oath or swearing does not mean Peter used foul language. This was the kind of swearing that a person does in court of law. Peter swore that he did not know Jesus and invoked a curse on himself if his words were untrue. In effect saying, "May God strike me dead if I am lying."

Believers who deny Christ often begin doing so subtly by pretending not to know Him. When opportunities to discuss religious issues come up, they walk away or pretend they don't know the answers. With only a little more pressure, they can be induced to deny flatly their relationship with Christ.

I will admit, only now have I become bold and comfortable about speaking my faith in God at ALL times. Once upon a time, I only spoke about my faith to those I knew were Christian. It had a lot to do with maturity and growth, but it was also out of fear of judgment that I didn't speak up. So many of us have been pushed into a corner, because people also want to conclude that Christians are pushing their faith on them when we speak- when all we're doing is talking about Someone (a Great Someone) who is literally apart of our lives.

I encourage all my bros and sis in Christ to not hide when praying over their meals amongst people. I encourage you to thank Jesus aloud when you get the urge to do so no matter who is around. I encourage you to be bold about acknowledging where Your help really comes from. We're not "spiritual" (many of us have used this to separate ourselves from the "religious" term)- we're children of God, saved by Jesus. It is ok to say "I am Christian." If the person(s) on the other end wants to judge. Let them. That judgment can do nothing to you.

If you find yourself subtly diverting conversations so you don't have to talk about Christ, watch out. You may be on the road to denying Him.

GOD DESERVES TO BE ACKNOWLEDGED AND HONORED PRIVATELY AND PUBLICLY!

*"hey ...right on time. I was up late working and stressing. Thanks."

*"OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

*"This rocks!  The message that Jesus STILL loved Judas anyway wasn't as prominent in my mind as it should have been.  Is now though!  Praise God that my eyes are open and my heart and mind are clear to receive this lesson this morning so that I may apply it to my life, practice and grow as well.  Very true indeed that the human side of us compels us to be reactionary based off of how we are treated. I really admire and appreciate you using yourself as an example to get the point across in today's lesson.  I am also very proud of you for it. xo"

Thank you all for sharing!

Prayer: Dear LORD, I pray that each child of Yours, strive towards understanding. You instruct us and teach us in the way we should go; You counsel us and watch over us. Turn our hearts to receive all of this, so that we are not controlled by our flesh and sinful desires. But urged by the Spirit of Your Holy Will in everything that we do-every day. In Your Son's name we pray. Amen. (Psalm 32)

DEATH & RESURRECTION OF JESUS, THE KING

Matthew 26

Before the Sanhedrin v. 57-68

Those who had arrested Jesus took him to Caiaphas, the high priest, where the teachers of the law and the elders had assembled. But Peter followed him at a distance, right up to the courtyard of the high priest. He entered and sat down with the guards to see the outcome.
The chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were looking for false evidence against Jesus so that they could put him to death. But they did not find any, though many false witnesses came forward.
Finally two came forward and declared, "This fellow said 'I am able to destroy the temple of God and rebuild it in three days.' "
Then the high priest stood up and said the Jesus, "Are you not going to answer? What is this testimony that these men are bringing against you?" But Jesus remained silent.
The high priest said to him, "I charge you under oath by the living God: Tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God."
"Yes, it is as you say," Jesus replied. "But I say to all of you: In the future you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven."
Then the high priest tore his clothes and said, "He has spoken blasphemy! Why do we need any more witnesses? Look, now you have heard the blasphemy. What do you think?"
"He is worthy of death," they answered.
Then they spit in his face and struck him with their fists. Others slapped him and said, "Prophesy to us, Christ. Who hit you?"

Well we know these folks didn't read the Good News from yesterday! LOL. It hurts my heart how they treated my King. But it hurts more to know that people haven't changed one bit today. This is exactly where we as humans go when we don't totally understand something. Whether it's wrong or right, because we don't understand it- we hate on it to the worst degree- all the way to violence. Look how people are reacting at the health care forums. And look at the effects of racism, there's a lifelong example, lack of understanding is exactly where it comes from.

What I love about Jesus is that He didn't waste time. When the people spoke falsely against Him, He was silent. He could have said, "Well, actually I said this: Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up." Jesus of course, was talking about His body, not the building. Ironically, the religious leaders were about to destroy Jesus' body just as he had said, and three days later He would raise from the dead. But he didn't refute the false testimony. He let their lie live with them.

How many of us are quick to correct someone? And then it ends up being a waste of time... Or better yet, turns into an argument that is just another huge chunk of wasted time, energy and emotions. LORD, O LORD, how I wish I would have just remained silent when someone told me, "I didn't have their back" or the time I heard someone I thought was a friend say, "Well, you know you can't trust those black people." Yes, they sure did say that! What came from my reaction- was a total waste of time. Even though I knew I was speaking the truth- nothing resulted from it but a hoarse voice the next day and some embarrassment from all the yelling- and hey some crying as well (ha-depends on the situation). I've learned sometimes (not all of the time- but sometimes), it is best to remain silent. We have to remember our God is about timing. Sometimes, the heart of the other person is so hardened and full of junk, that nothing can get them to listen or change their mind in that moment. So take time to pray and discern, instead of just reacting; and let the Holy Spirit determine whether you are meant to speak up or not. The truth really DOES always prevail. God has said it and He is not a liar. You may not see the results; but are the results really always there for us to see? No.

On the other hand, when the truth was spoken- Jesus responded. And I love His response "Yes, it is as you say," when they commanded Him to tell them if He was "the Christ, the Son of the living God." What a response we should all incorporate into our communication. "Yes, it is as you say." We don't need credit, give it to the person speaking it. For example, when someone says "Jesus Christ" out of frustration. Say, "Yes, it is as you say." LOL. But back to the point, confirm the truth that is spoken, don't place more priority on arguing over the lies.

The high priest accused Jesus of blasphemy (the act of speaking sacrilegiously about God or sacred things; profane talk)- in calling Himself God. The religious leaders refused even to consider that Jesus' words might be true. They had decided to kill Jesus, and in so doing, they sealed their own fates as well as His. Like the members of the high council, we must decide whether Jesus' words are blasphemy, wise sayings from a man or Truth from God. Are you refusing to even consider that Jesus' words might be true? Your decision has eternal implications. So pray about it; search for God with all of your heart and soul.

DON'T GIVE UP ON GOD, BECAUSE HE WON'T GIVE UP ON YOU!

One on One time with God

Victory!!!!

August 10 was the day after a 40 day "victorious" journey with my God. And what a journey it was. What doors it has opened. It wasn't at all easy but definitely worth it.

I share this to encourage you to press into God. To do something that isn't ordinary, but truly special between you and God. So that you can discern more and more who He is and what He wants to do in your life and in His Kingdom.

I pray that God reveals to you, exactly how that intimate time and conversation can begin. And that through your obedience and by His Spirit, situations in your life begin to heal and the good things prosper. In Jesus' name, Amen.

The focus of my journey was not me, but God and what He wants to do in and with my life.

DISTINGUISH THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN. WHAT GOD'S WILL IS IN MY LIFE AND WHAT IS MY WILL. BRINGING THEM TO THE INTERSECTION OF BEING THE SAME THING- GOD'S WILL.

-STAY PRAYED UP-PRAISE HIM IN ADVANCE-

FAMILY COMMENTS:

* (from Jesus Wants You-8/10/09) "WE often forget that Jesus loved Judas ...the story is always used as a story of betrayal....but we should be looking at this betrayal that continued in love. I had an ouch moment when reading that Jesus called Judas friend despite knowing full well what he was going to do and always knowing what he was going to do. He continued to love all his disciples who all fled and denied him. Praise God for the LOVE of Jesus and that his love covers all of us. I pray that we all come in to the perfecting love of Jesus Christ so that we can love one another better as well as ourselves."

This was good and right on time for today's message! Thank you for sharing!
________________________________________________
Prayer: Heavenly Father, show each one of us how to love each other, how to respect each other, how to treat one another how we wish to be treated; show us dear LORD how to be a friend to one another. Only through this can unity be created. There is power in those who stand in agreement under Christ. Move Your people to see themselves and others as You see them. Stir forgiveness in our hearts LORD. Implement loving and clear communication between us. People need people. Isolation delivers no growth. Thank You LORD for my brothers and sisters in Christ. Let fences be mended, confusion replaced with sound judgment. For I ask the Holy Spirit to lead and control our emotions. And that we don't allow our emotions to lead us in the wrong direction of damaging reactions. I pray we each bind our minds to the Holy mind of Christ in order to be motivated by Your Will in everything we do, specifically towards one another. In the mighty name of Jesus! Amen.

DEATH & RESURRECTION OF JESUS, THE KING

Matthew 26

Jesus Arrested *part 3*
v. 56

Then all the disciples deserted him and fled.

I am a repeat offender of treating people as they treat me. People have HURT me! So to protect myself; You ignore me, I cut you out.
You're late all the time; don't respect my time- I usually and gradually stop hanging with you. You annoy me enough, and in time I will remove myself. Your communication style lacks, then I stop considering you. You flake, I "flake" you out. You only care about the position/company that I'm with- you're not slick-it's revealed itself & my box of favors gets closed. And the list can go on. Yes, I'm letting you know my secrets. Ha! But the reason I reveal this is because we all do it, and it is NOT of God. We act out of emotion and not out of a heart of mercy and grace. We remove ourselves from people who potentially might need us- or we just might need them. We prevent God from working in those relationships. We possibly remove ourselves from a relationship that can mature us in ways we wouldn't mature without them, and vice versa. We just might be deserting them in their greatest time of need. Have you ever thought about that? Or is it just about you? We're not only called to love those who treat us good. God says to love- and that doesn't exclude anyone. How can we do this when we're busy separating ourselves?

I commit today to NOT stoop to such a level ever again. It's time to let this burden go! We fool ourselves in thinking we're creating freedom- when we're only creating animosity. The truth is people will ALWAYS disappoint us. In some way we are not going to live up to one another's expectations. Jesus couldn't even get His 12 closest friends (the disciples) to stand with Him in his deepest time of need. A few hours earlier, this band of men had said they would rather die than desert their LORD. And what did they do? They deserted Him, they fled- leaving Jesus to deal with the religious leaders alone.

Let's be honest, even before the cross, these guys were consistent disappointments. But Jesus loved them anyway. He showed them what the love of God really was. He never left them, He was always honest with them, He fed them spiritually, He served them; Praise God, Jesus didn't allow hurt emotions to rule over Himself, and He committed to giving His life for them (and us).

For all His life, Jesus consistently showed Himself friendly, was a friend and cared. People were full of sin and came to Him- even better He went to them (women at the well) and Jesus loved them.

How did Jesus do this? By making His relationship with God the most important. When and where the disciples lacked, God was sufficient. As He is for us as well. Sufficient in all ways. And God is that one friend who can really vindicate situations for us. Not according to our wisdom or power. But by His infinite and all-knowing wisdom and power. When we trust Him, we can place people in a loving place. Instead we look to people to provide, what only God can provide. You will only be complete in God, and when we're complete- we can do so much more for one another. We can allow offenses to slide right off our backs, and continue in the same manner Jesus did to those He called friends. This doesn't mean to be best friends with everyone. Everyone Jesus helped, taught, and cared for, didn't become part of His intimate 12. But that didn't stop Him from loving them as friends.

So I'm making a public commitment that when people want to ignore me, be mean to me, can't even remember my birthday, not speak to me, nor hang with me, put me last, desert me and talk behind my back, that it won't be my issue. No one has the power to use me or tear me down, when I choose to be a giver of all that God has placed in my hands; regardless of the circumstances. I trust God will judge every person's motives and heart, even my own. That's for Him to take care of. I will continue to show myself as someone by which you can depend on,turn to in time of need, laugh with, hang with, talk to, get the truth from with love & compassion- not judgment or condemnation. I won't change over night by any means. But it is my goal to mature in this area and to step onto this journey. I am making a public confession in order to stay accountable to it. We need to stop reacting and proactively start walking as Jesus tells us to walk every day through the Holy Spirit.

How about you? Are you ready to truly show yourself friendly. Just to be friendly and good, without looking for anything in return? Not keeping that relationship because you think they can provide you a job in the future. Not keeping that relationship because of their access to everything exclusive. Not keeping that relationship to use the person, but keeping the relationship to show compassion to one another.

It doesn't matter who is a friend to us, we are called to be a friend to them! We do this not to be above anyone else, but to continue to show that we care for one another, no matter what. WE CARE! And through that, they will see that our Father cares.

Love one another is a command not an option.

DON'T YOU WANT TO BE BETTER TOWARDS ONE ANOTHER?
-forgive and love.

God is Good!!

Why I am in Cali:

"We must allow our agendas to expire and learn to live for the Lord's plans. This requires deep humility and mature faith. The Lord is saying now, 'Be prepared to do big things. Be enthusiastic to do the small and temporal in order to bring something great in another's life.' God has to break and cleanse us with the water of humility in order to display the shining spiritual diamonds that are hidden deep within."

-God's plan may look unusual to others and even ourselves at times. But it's right. What a revelation in the fact that God used Joseph's enemies (from brothers to Potiphars adulterous wife) to unwrap the large dream He placed inside of him.

Only God knows, who is being used in my life and I'm trusting Him!

Hallelujah!!!

TGN: The Time is Now

Think about who you use to be and who you want to be. Think about the vices you use to or still have; sin you just can't seem to or just won't let go of even now... Set the atmosphere (your heart) for repentance and freedom. And pray this prayer.

Prayer: Dear Father, I alone am not worthy of receiving Your Kingdom. My life without You and without my mind on You is so shameful. But oh how You love me. You have washed me, sanctified me and justified me in the name of the LORD Jesus Christ and Your Spirit. Let me receive this LORD. Let this, Your reality sink deep into my heart. Show me how to believe it, receive it and walk in this godly identity, so that I can make real God honoring changes in my life. Not to become perfect, but to strive towards obedience, no matter how many times I fail. For everything is permissible for me- I can do whatever my flesh desires, but I have to realize that just because I desire it, have had fun with it and doing it, it is not my true identity. Your commands are set because not everything is beneficial for me. I am not suppose to be mastered by anything on this earth. My body is meant for You and You for my body. It is important who I unite with, and become one in body with; have sex with. All that I do with my body is important. Even everything I put inside of it; including my mind, my thoughts- for just because I can justify it- doesn't mean You have. For my body is the temple of Your Holy Spirit in me. It's important to unite myself with You, in order to become one in You in Spirit. So that I can learn and discern You Will and Your ways. Therefore LORD, I need Your help, be merciful to me LORD. For I come to You with eyes weak from sorrow, my soul and body filled with grief, my life consumed by anguish (severe mental/physical pain or suffering), my own strength fails time and time again because of my affliction (the cause of my pain and suffering). Shine Your face on Your servant LORD. I am crying out to You, because I do not want to make the same mistakes over and over again. I don't want to be fooled by satan, demons or by my own flesh! HERE I AM LORD! Save me with Your unfailing love. For I am not my own; I was bought at a price. And I desire to honor You LORD, in the manner by which You deserve; with my whole being, including my body. Into Your hands I commit my spirit; redeem me, O LORD, the God of Truth. In Jesus' name, IN YOUR POWERFUL NAME- JESUS!!!!! I pray because I KNOW you don't give up on Your children!!!! Hallelujah! Amen. (1 Corinthians 6/Psalm 31)

DEATH & RESURRECTION OF JESUS, THE KING

Matthew 26

Jesus Arrested *part 2*
v. 50-54

Then the men stepped forward, seized Jesus and arrested him. With that, one of Jesus' companions reached for his sword, drew it out and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear.
"Put your sword back in its place," Jesus said to him, "for all who draw the sword will die by the sword. Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels? But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen in this way?"
(:56) Then all the disciples deserted him and fled.

The man who cut off the servant's ear was Peter (John 18:10). Peter was trying to prevent what he saw as defeat. He didn't realize (what Jesus had prepared him and the disciples for beforehand) that Jesus had to die in order to gain victory. But Jesus demonstrated perfect commitment to His Father's Will. His Kingdom would not be advance with swords but with faith and obedience.

Are YOU peter? Are you trying to prevent what you see as defeat in your life? Are you acting without seeking God first, for what He is trying to do in your life and through your circumstances?

You might ask, "How do I seek God?"

Well write this down or print it and save this...
You read His Word. Why? In order to learn His voice and His way of thinking. It takes more effort than waiting on the daily Good News and other spiritual resources to be delivered to your inboxes. It consist of actually getting out your own Bible, to search and study it. In this, not depending on your way or what you have come accustomed to thinking is God- when it's really just you. But, His way, not our way!!! Don't forget His ways ARE NOT our ways.

Next, you pray!! And you pray!! And you pray some more. And you don't stop until it is placed on your spirit to stop. Don't stop because you're too tired to do it. Don't stop because you're preoccupied with something or someone. Don't stop because you don't feel or see anything happening. Press in to the God you serve. And don't worry. God is not like us, He doesn't get annoyed or irritated when we call. He doesn't send us to voicemail after the first ring. He desires this communication and fellowship with each one of us. This is how we build our trust in Him.

Then you also seek wise counsel! Wise counsel for me, comes from someone who is going to pray for me and with me in the NAME OF JESUS. Not someone who thinks they have the answer and blurts out their own opinions, before I can even get my problem out. But someone who KNOWS where our help comes from. I need someone whose hope is in the LORD. I can't depend on those who believe in the universe and other gods, to hear the wisdom from the LORD Almighty. Not to say that in some situations, what we need to hear will come from anyone God chooses. But in pursuing guidance in hearing God's voice, you want to go to God's people. You know who your spiritual mentors are. If you don't, let's work on getting you some! You need accountability in Your life. Not judgment!!!! But loving and compassionate accountability to your relationship with the King of Kings.

And then You wait for that answer. And take note: it will most likely be something you don't want to hear or do. But your spirit will know that it's right. You'll want to (and probably actually) fight tooth and nail against it. But it will be what you need to do, in order to receive God's best in your life. The desires of your heart- not your flesh! How will you receive this answer? Well, there are unlimited ways for God, everything and everyone is at His disposal. But some key things to remember are: (1) God knows how you receive and will speak to you in that matter. (2) God will confirm it. You won't just hear it once. (3) IT WILL ALWAYS AGREE WITH HIS WORD. If it doesn't; if it steps out of God's Word in the slightest form. IT IS NOT FROM GOD. Yes, the LORD will use unconventional ways and methods that make absolutely no sense to us. But it will NEVER disagree with His Word.

*it most likely will require some sacrifice on your end as well.*

But it is all for the good that comes from God! Remember you will not advance in God's Kingdom now, by your own methods and ways. It's only by faith, obedience, a sincere, honest relationship with God and submission to His perfect Will-everyday, in our hearts, and in everything that we do.

ARE YOU PREVENTING GOD'S WORK IN YOUR LIFE?
- Jesus is preparing you for God's Glory over your situation!!! Don't miss it! There's no better time than now to STOP wasting time.

DEATH & RESURRECTION OF JESUS, THE KING

Matthew 26

Jesus Arrested v. 47-56 *part 1*

While (Jesus) was still speaking (to Peter, James and John at Gethsemane), Judas, one of the Twelve, arrived. With him was a large crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests and the elders of the people. Now the betrayer had arranged a signal with them: "The one I kiss is the man; arrest him.". Going at once to Jesus, Judas said, "Greetings, Rabbi!" and kissed him.
Jesus replied, "Friend, do what you came for."
At that time Jesus said to the crowd, "Am I leading a rebellion, that you have come out with swords and clubs to capture me? Every day I sat in the temple courts teaching, and you did not arrest me. But this has all taken place that the writings of the prophets might be fulfilled." Then all the disciples deserted him and fled.

This was not an arrest by Roman soldiers under Roman law but an arrest by the religious leaders. Judas pointed Jesus out, not because Jesus was hard to recognize, but because Judas had agreed to be the formal accuser in case a trial was called. Judas was able to lead the group to on of Jesus' retreat, where no onlookers would intervene with the arrest. The religious leader were afraid of the crowds that followed Jesus each day.

Even in the midst of betrayal, Jesus still acknowledged Judas as "Friend". Not sarcastically, but sincerely. Jesus loves! That's it. He loves. Someone reading this, or someone you know might think, "I've just done too much wrong! Jesus will not accept me! I'm not ready!" Well, my friend, you're wrong. Jesus loves you, calls you friend and wants you to turn your heart to Him or back to Him.

Instead of falling deeper into whatever you are involved in- STOP- get on your knees- and cry out to Jesus. Tell Him how much You need Him and want Him in Your life. Confess every sin directly to Him and repent. Call out to Him for help. Jesus answers willing hearts. All you have to do is call on Him, and trust me He will do the rest.

IF THERE IS ANY DESIRE IN YOU TO CALL ON GOD, TRUST & BE EXCITED- HE IS CALLING OUT FOR YOU FIRST!

DEATH & RESURRECTION OF JESUS, THE KING

Matthew 26

Gethsemane *part 4*
v. 39-41
Going a little farther (away from where Peter, James and John were), (Jesus) fell with his face to the ground and prayed, "My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will."
Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleep. "Could you men not keep watch with me for one hour?" he asked Peter. "Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak."

In times of suffering people sometimes wish they knew the future, or they wish they could understand the reason for their anguish. I can testify to that, most of the time the suffering and anguish came from the job I was at- and how I wish I knew what was next, and when it was coming, but would it have helped? Jesus knew what lay ahead of Him, and He knew the reason. Even so, His struggle was intense-more wrenching than any struggle we will ever have to face.

Jesus was not rebelling against His Father's Will when He asked that the cup of suffering, anguish and separation be taken away. How many of us BEG God to remove certain pains from our lives. If we can't cry out to God with our pain, who can we turn to? But the one thing missing from many of us, is the step of desiring God's Will over the entire circumstance. Jesus reaffirmed His desire to God's Will by saying, "Yet I want your will, not mine." His prayer reveals to us His terrible suffering. His agony was worse than death because He paid for all sin by being separated from God. Because of Jesus, God is always with us. The sinless Son of God took our sins upon Himself to save us from suffering and separation. Now, that's a hero to me.

What does it take to be able to say, "I want Your Will LORD"? It takes firm trust in God's plans; it takes prayer and obedience EACH step of the way.

GOD's WILL OR YOURS?
-which takes priority in your life?

SCARS OF LIFE

Some years ago, on a hot summer day in South Florida , a little boy decided to go for a swim in the old swimming hole behind his house.

In a hurry to dive into the cool water, he ran out the back door, leaving behind shoes, socks, and shirt as he went.

He flew into the water, not realizing that as he swam toward the middle of the lake, an alligator was swimming toward the shore.

His father, working in the yard, saw the two as they got closer and closer together. In utter fear, he ran toward the water, yelling to his son as loudly as he could.

Hearing his voice, the little boy became alarmed and made a U-turn to swim to his father.

It was too late.

Just as he reached his father, the alligator reached him.

From the dock, the father grabbed his little boy by the arms just as the alligator
snatched his legs...

That began an incredible tug-of-war between the two. The alligator was much stronger than the father, but the father was much too passionate to let go.

A farmer happened to drive by, heard his screams, raced from his truck, took aim and shot the alligator.

Remarkably, after weeks and weeks in the hospital, the little boy survived. His legs were extremely scarred by the vicious attack
of the animal. And, on his arms, were deep scratches where his father's fingernails dug into his flesh in his effort to hang on to the son he loved..

The newspaper reporter who interviewed the boy after the trauma, asked if he would
show him his scars..

The boy lifted his pant legs. And then, with obvious pride, he said to the reporter, 'But look at my arms. I have great scars on my arms, too.
I have them because my Dad wouldn't let go.'

You and I can identify with that little boy.
We have scars, too.

No, not from an alligator, but the scars of a painful past. Some of those scars are unsightly and have caused us deep regret.
But, some wounds, my friend, are because God has refused to let go.

In the midst of your struggle, He's been there holding on to you...

The Scripture teaches that God loves you.
You are a child of God. He wants to protect you
and provide for you in every way. But sometimes we foolishly wade into dangerous situations, not knowing what lies ahead. The swimming hole of life is filled with peril - and we forget that the enemy is waiting to attack.

That's when the tug-of-war begins - and if you have the scars of His love on your arms, be very, very grateful. He did not and will not ever let you go.

RE: IT'S TIME TO PRAY (8-5-09)

*Thank you for this today!  You and God are right on time.  I am struggling with some work issues and really need to hear a good word and some guidance today. Thanks again!

*DONE!!!
(Responded to the call to pray for someone else)

*OMG - this is one of the reasons I was feeling tired yesterday. I know what God has for me, but, it's so overwhelming that I almost feel self-sabatoge creeping in - bringing on my own feelings of defeat. Thanks for having the heart of God and not being afraid to share such inspired prayers!

Prayer: LORD, forgive us for trying to do anything on our own. Even if the deed was what we label as good-done without you makes it done in vain. There are things that we may want to do, that you have not called us to do. Something done out of purpose is a waste of time. Forgive us LORD! Doing anything without You, leads us directly into the hands of the enemy. But thankfully I serve a forgiving and faithful God, full of grace and mercy. Thank You for bringing this important sin to my attention so that I can fully repent of it and step anew. You will never forsake me LORD, You receive me-just as I am. I don't have to change before coming to You. Because in You only, is true and lasting change put into effect in me and my life. I am confident that I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. I will no longer act without You. I will wait for my LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for You in all that I do. In Jesus' name. Amen. (Psalm 27)

DEATH & RESURRECTION OF JESUS, THE KING

Matthew 26

Gethsemane *part 3*
v. 38
"Stay here and keep watch with me."

WITH ME! WITH ME! WITH ME!
There are too many people who believe they don't have to do anything but wait for their prayer to be answered. Or many don't even pray, but expect "life" to bring their desires to them. Put it out into the universe and it will come back... Isn't that The Secret?

I have never read that book and I don't need to. The "not so much a" secret, is that all we need to know is in the Word of God. And one thing Jesus commands of us, is that in whatever we are called to do, whatever desires He has placed on our hearts, when we are lost or in deep anguish, when we are full of joy-praise and thankfulness; we are to do it WITH HIM! Not because He necessarily needs us, but because He desires to invite us into the process to reveal His deep love and merciful nature.*

So what is it that we do? Well, Jesus tells Peter, (Zebedee's sons) James and John what we do first," keep watch" and in verse 41 to "pray". Keeping watch is to stay alert, stay awake. Don't live this life asleep to the good direction and guidance that God is placing in front of you, or asleep to the lurking temptation out to defeat you. The way to overcome temptation is not just to hope God keeps it away- because He won't. We have to keep alert and pray. Keeping alert means being aware of the possibilities of temptation, sensitive to the subtleties, and spiritually equipped to not only fight temptation but to recognize what is of God; what is God's Will. Because temptation strikes where we are most vulnerable, we can't resist it alone. We need Jesus and we need to move with Him.

Prayer; CONSISTENT prayer- SINCERE prayer- FAITH-FILLED prayer- prayer filled with the WORD, is essential because God's power and strength is found in prayer. Answers are revealed during prayer. Do you really believe in the power of pray-prayer gets our spirits, heart, mind and body to move in the right actions. Begin to listen to the words of your prayers- note how much time you spend, you'll be able to determine your true faith in Jesus. If it doesn't seem of good quality to you- just dig in more. Give more of your time and heart to develop this essential part of relationship with God. It's our communication with Him.

Next time you question why God isn't answering your prayers, check up on what you're doing with Him; instead of just waiting and expecting Him to just do for you.

GOD BLESSES US BY ALLOWING A TEAM EFFORT
-we are co-laborers with Jesus

Are you receiving from the Good News?

THE COMMENTS OF THE FAITH-FILLED

*RE: "WHAT ABOUT YOUR FRIENDS?" -So on time.  I really am connecting to this one today. Thanks for sending.

--------------------------------------------------------------
TODAY WE'RE INTERRUPTING YOUR NORMAL TGN SCHEDULE TO DO WHAT GOD IS CALLING US TO DO WHICH IS... P-R-A-Y

Prayer: LORD! There is a spirit of defeat on Your people today and we know this doesn't come from You. So I pray that we collectively call out to You to help those who have allowed their circumstance, history, situations, lack of, loneliness, regrets, arguments- whatever it is to defeat them. Remind us that with You there is only victory- no matter what we feel. Hallelujah!!!! Thank You LORD for Psalm 27- You are our light and our salvation. Whom shall we fear? No one! You are the stronghold of our lives! Evil advances against us to devour our flesh, the enemy tries to attack us to keep us from knowing and understanding You. My heart will not fear what lies ahead. Though war breaks out against us, LORD gives us the confidence, we can only have in You. I seek to dwell in the house of the LORD Almighty, all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of You, our Mighty King.; and seek You. For in the days of trouble, distress, worry, sadness, depression, lost, pain/hurt- You will keep us safe in Your dwelling; hiding each one of Your children in the shelter of Your tabernacle and set us high upon a rock. Your peace, Your joy, Your praise... You have already defeated it all. I don't have to wait for Your victory because it is already established. We just need to step and live in it. LORD, I rebuke the spirit of defeat. My brothers and sisters will not live in this world defeated!!!!

NOW BEGIN TO ADDRESS YOUR ISSUES AND CONCERNS- AND/OR PRAY FOR SOMEONE YOU KNOW NEEDS YOU TO STAND IN THE GAP.

Be that friend!!!! Don't sleep on it.

In Jesus' victorious name. Amen

More in Matthew 26 coming up soon...

Conquer the Thought Life

What do you often think about? Is it uplifting and edifying? Dark and dirty? Light and funny? Worried and anxious? Is it in the past, present or future? What are your thoughts?

My thoughts are all over the place. I'm easily distracted from what I'm doing in the present to think about something unnecessary. The only time I'm completely disciplined is only when I'm in the Word- and I'll admit, sometimes I get distracted there too.

So what is it that I have to do (and encourage all of you dealing with this issue)? We have to take authority of our thoughts. Our thoughts should bless God. Instead of thinking about sex, take authority to keep your mind from wavering out of His presence. I use sex because it is the most common.

Another thing about our thoughts, is that we harp on all of the wrong things.
-take no account of evil done to you. Because when you do, you're either plotting revenge or defeated and both are not of God.
-pay no attention to suffered wrongs. Why? Because we start to believe the worst of people, when God tells us to believe the best of each person. Most people do what is thought of them. Tell them they are the worst enough times and they will be. Do the opposite and can you imagine the difference? I can't stand when females call men dogs- do you know when you do that, you've allowed your expectations to be lowered? And even though you'll often be hurt, you'll put up with it because you don't feel you can find any better. I can't stand when people put down a particular race of people. Especially their own people. Running on "CP time, " "Filipino time" - no! The people are running late and usually inconsiderable. If something starts at 8p, be there! It's not hard. Ok that's a whole other blog.

But seriously, we need to set our minds on higher things. From what we think, we believe (take to our hearts) and then say.

And what we speak can either be life or death. I want to speak life and hear it life all day long.

How about you?
