Mark 10:46-52 (NKJV)

Jesus Heals Blind Bartimaeus
46 Now they came to Jericho. As He went out of Jericho with His disciples and a great multitude, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the road begging. 47 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”
48 Then many warned him to be quiet; but he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”
49 So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called.
Then they called the blind man, saying to him, “Be of good cheer. Rise, He is calling you.”
50 And throwing aside his garment, he rose and came to Jesus.
51 So Jesus answered and said to him, “What do you want Me to do for you?”
The blind man said to Him, “Rabboni, that I may receive my sight.”
52 Then Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus on the road.

Let's put a couple of things in context first:

"Son of David," was a popular way of addressing Jesus as the Messiah, because it was know that the Messiah would be a descendant of King David (Isaiah 9:7)- which was Joseph's lineage .
Beggars were a common sight in most towns.  Because most occupations of the day required physical labor, anyone with a crippling disease or disability was at a severe disadvantage and was usually forced to beg, even though God's laws commanded care for needy people (Leviticus 25:35-38), still does...  Blindness was considered a curse from God for sin (John 9:2), but Jesus refuted this idea when He reached out to heal the blind.

First, God does not curse us with illness because we've been bad in life.  Nor does He just strike us with illnesses to play around with our lives.  This is NOT who God is.  Please remember we live in human bodies, they don't last forever.  And due to the many imperfections that reside in our world from sin, we often suffer from some pretty devastating things.  But God, is so good; He can do the amazing things through and with our sufferings... but do you believe He can?

Bartimaeus could not see Jesus, but still had faith in Him.  The fact that he called Jesus the Son of David shows that he recognized Jesus as the Messiah.  His faith in Jesus as the Messiah brought about his healing.
Who is Jesus to you?  Are you fighting with the issue of not being able to see Him, in order to believe in Him.
This is an area where I can only draw from personal experience.  For me, Jesus is more real than anyone else in my life.  Not because I've made Him something to accommodate my lifestyle.  But because He has made a total transformation of me.  Who I am today is not anyone I could have dreamed of being, and the amazing thing is that He isn't done with me.  Personally, I don't need to see a physical human form to know that Jesus is real and at awesome work in my life; and at work in all of YOUR lives.  It’s all so visible if we only allow the Word to change our perspectives.  The fact that You are even reading The Good News today is Jesus at work.  Trust Him!

As we read this Word every day, we learn who Jesus is; and as we live desiring more of Him in our  lives - we actually get to experience, witness, and know without a doubt all that He is doing in our hearts and lives.  But just as Jesus didn't go around screaming "HEY, I'M THE MESSIAH PEOPLE!!!  I'M THE ONE WHO IS GOING TO SAVE YOUR LIVES.  BELIEVE IN ME!!!"  He isn't going to do this in your life either.  He calls you but you have to make moves by faith and come to Him - every day.  You don't accept Him and that's it.  You have to make the choice, in all that you do, every day of your life.

Don't let anyone stop you. Don't let what you see deter you.  Cry out to Jesus.  Call to Him.  Let your faith guide you.  Let Jesus heal you and send you the right way.

Daily Prayer: ONLY YOU AND JESUS KNOW THE EXACT AREA WHERE YOUR FAITH IS LACKING.  I ENCOURAGE YOU TO PRAY TO HIM ABOUT THAT AND ASK HIM TO SHOW YOU HOW TO INCREASE IN THAT AREA-SO THAT YOU CAN EXPERIENCE THE WONDERFUL FREEDOM THAT COMES FROM ACCEPTING, LOVING AND LIVING WITH JESUS CHRIST.
We love you Jesus.  Amen!
