There is not one good thing that You will withhold from your child. LORD, we want to wish Lula not only an amazing day, but many days to come! This upcoming year and years to come. How thankful we are that You are not done with her. You have more on this earth for Lula to do and experience. We pray that she sees everything that You offer clearly. We rebuke all attempts of the enemy to put up smoke and mirrors to lead her towards deception. Holy Spirit, continue to lead and guide her. Refresh her in all the areas You know need refreshing. Show Yourself in the areas of her concerns. Continue to increase her discernment when it comes to Your voice. We thank You for her excellent health in the name of Jesus. We plead Your blood over her body, mind and spirit. There is nothing that can stand against You Jesus, her Healer. Continue to increase Lula more and more in every area of her life; and allow this increase to overflow into the lives of her mother and her children, her children's children, her children's children's children and generations to come. Lord bless her and keep her, may Your face continue to shine upon her and be gracious to her. Turn Your face towards Lula LORD and give her peace- more abundantly. In the mighty name of Jesus', thank You for this day to celebrate Your beautiful daughter. Please bless in unexpected ways, those who took their time to pray over her life today. Amen.

JESUS' MINISTRY IN GALILEE

Mark 2 v. 18-22 (NLT)

Jesus Questioned About Fasting

18 Once when John's (the Baptist) disciples and the Pharisees were fasting, some people came to Jesus and asked, "Why don't your disciples fast like John's disciples and the Pharisees do?"

19 Jesus replied, "Do wedding guests fast while celebrating with the groom? Of course not. They can't fast while the groom is with them. 20 But someday the groom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast.

21 "Besides, who would patch old clothing with new cloth? For the new patch would shrink and rip away from the old cloth, leaving an even bigger tear than before.

22 "And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. For the wine would burst the wineskins, and the wine and the skins would both be lost. New wine calls for new wineskins."

------

What is fasting? Fasting is both an outward sign of humility and regret for sin, and an inner discipline that clears the mind and keeps the spirit alert. Fasting empties the body of food (or whatever is a true sacrifice for you- for me it's TV sometimes); repentance empties the life of sin.

John the Baptist had two goals: (1) to lead people to repent of their sin, and (2) to prepare them for Christ's coming. John message was sobering; so he and his followers fasted.

Jesus' disciples did not need to fast to prepare for His coming because He was with them. Jesus did not condemn fasting. He himself fasted for 40 days (Matthew 4:2). Nevertheless, Jesus emphasized fasting with the right motives. The Pharisees fasted twice a week to show others how holy they were. Jesus explained that if people fast only to impress others, they will be twisting the purpose of fasting.

- DO YOU GET WHAT FASTING IS ALL ABOUT?
If not ask questions...

Prayer: LORD, what is it that You want me to do today? Confirm Your Word personally in my day today. I seek to honor You LORD. Are you calling me to fast? To spend more time with You? To help someone specific? Whatever it is LORD, I'm committed to being obedient. In Jesus' name. Amen.
