Prayer: It is so good to know that the devil is a liar! It releases me from believing any lies that are pressed in front of me or slyly whispered in my ear. I rebuke every lie from the enemy dear LORD. Heavenly Father, You are King for ever and ever. King over all things, especially every issue and circumstance in my life. You hear the desires of the afflicted and You encourage us. You never stop listening. I can't explain how You do it. But I'm so grateful, that the God I serve and love is ALL-KNOWING, ALL-POWERFUL, OMNI-PRESENT. Thank You for being my ever-present help. I absolutely love You. I will shout it out for all to know. My God is good! And so worthy of all the praise. In Jesus' name. Amen

Matthew 24

The Day and Hour Unknown - part 2 v. 36-51

Jesus speaking to His disciples:

"No one knows about the day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.
Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.
Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of the servants in his household to give them their food at the proper time? It will be good for that servant whose master finds him doing so when he returns. I tell you the truth, he will put him in charge of all his possessions. But suppose that servant is wicked and says to himself, 'My master is staying away a long time,' and he then begins to beat his fellow servants and to eat and drink with drunkards. The master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he is not aware of. He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth."

How would you live if you knew the exact date of Jesus' return? For me, I think I would be a little more careful and concerned about the small details that I sometimes just brush off my shoulder to deal with at a later time. "Why am I not concerned about them now?" is the question. I should be regardless of knowing the date of Jesus' second coming or not.

It is good that we don't know exactly when Christ will return. If we knew the precise date, we might be tempted to be lazy in our work for Christ. Worse yet, we might plan to keep sinning and then turn to God right at the end. Worse yet, we might do everything asked of us, without our hearts being in it- with the only selfish intention to skip hell. Having nothing to do with living the God kind of life and sharing that with others for their own good; experiencing the Kingdom on earth.

Heaven is not our ONLY goal ladies and gents; we have work to do here. And we must keep on doing it until death or until we see the unmistakable return of our Savior. I hope you know that there will be work in Heaven, we won't just be resting on clouds and listening to harps. God is preparing us for this work right now on earth.

Christ's second coming will be swift and sudden. There will be no opportunity for last-minute repentance or bargaining. The choice we have already made will determine our eternal destiny. If you are not using your time on earth to prepare for Heaven. What will be the purpose of you going to Heaven? Remember we serve a God of purpose. Jesus' purpose in telling us about His return is not to stimulate predictions and calculations about the date but to warn us to be prepared. The only safe choice is to choose to obey Him in every way starting today (if you haven't began already) Not out of fear of hell, force or even obligation- but because you love God and desire to spend this life and eternity with Him.

Jesus asks us to spend the time of waiting taking care of His people and doing His work here on earth, both within the church and outside it. This is the best way to prepare for Christ's return. Does this eliminate fun? No! It eliminates what could kill, ruin and destroy you. That's what the enemy does, but it all seems like fun and games right now. Knowing that Christ's return will be sudden and unexpected should motive us to be prepared. We are to live responsibly-not using His tarrying as an excuse to not do God's work of building His Kingdom or to pursue pleasure, nor developing a false security based on someone's calculations of events.

The Bible uses "Weeping and gnashing of teeth" many times, and you'll hear it more throughout the New Testament. The phrase is used to describe despair. Eternity in Hell will be nothing but despair. How horrible! Some people live some of that hell on earth. How I pray and hope people will seek their freedom. God's coming judgment is as certain as Jesus' return to earth.

WILL YOU BE READY FOR JESUS?
